Academic Failure & Reassessment Policy
A student is considered to have failed a course in the following cases:
- ▪ Unregulated withdrawal: Withdrawal from the course after two weeks from the start date without an approved excuse.
- ▪ Exceeding attendance requirements: Failure to meet the minimum academic participation requirement of 75% of total course activities (assignments, activities, readings, and projects).
- ▪ Incomplete course requirements: Failure to submit assignments, activities, projects, or required readings.
- ▪ Serious breach of academic integrity: Including cheating, plagiarism, or misuse of unauthorized tools such as excessive use of artificial intelligence without proper acknowledgment or compliance with academic guidelines.
Students may request a review of a course evaluation if they believe that an error or unfair assessment has occurred. Requests must be submitted through the Academy’s official online system within two weeks of the official grade release or the announcement of failure due to attendance issues.
The following conditions apply:
- ▪Students are required to discuss the matter with the course instructor before submitting a formal request to ensure clarity and avoid unnecessary procedures.
- ▪It is generally discouraged to submit a reassessment request if the final grade is within 10% of the expected result or consistent with the student’s overall academic performance within the program or department.
- ▪Reassessment is conducted based on clear academic criteria, including: completion of all course requirements, clear intellectual structure, accurate understanding of the subject and/or research sources, depth and coherence of analysis, critical thinking, language quality and presentation, and academic integrity and originality. Students are therefore encouraged to carefully evaluate the fairness of their request before submission.
- ▪Only one reassessment request is permitted per course.
- ▪Requests that do not include complete and accurate information, or that are missing required documentation, will not be considered.
- ▪Requests must be submitted via the registered academic email of the Academy within a maximum of two weeks after the official publication of final results. Late submissions will not be accepted. However, in graduation terms, reassessment requests for failed courses may be submitted within two days of the final results announcement.
- ▪Course results are announced either via email or through the student portal. Checking the email or portal regularly is the sole responsibility of the student.
Students will be informed of the outcome of their request within one month of submission. In graduation terms, decisions regarding failed course reassessments will be communicated within four days.
Publication of Results
Final grades are published through the official learning platform (Moodle) within one month after the completion of the course. Students have the right to submit academic inquiries within the officially designated period in accordance with institutional procedures.
